The second edition of the Moving Balkans Contemporary Dance Showcase held in Novi Sad

From 13 to 16 May 2026, the second edition of the Moving Balkans Contemporary Dance Showcase, financially supported by the Creative Europe programme, took place in Novi Sad, Serbia. The event brought together creators of innovative dance productions, emerging talents, and leading professionals from the Balkans and across Europe, creating opportunities for promotion, professional exchange, and international networking in the field of contemporary dance.

The programme featured a selection of contemporary dance productions from the Balkans, alongside professional meetings and presentations held across seven different venues in the city. Among the top 10 selected productions for 2026 was the Macedonian performance “Mockumentary”, choreographed by Adriana Danchevska Rovchanin and produced by Skopje Dance Theatre and the Cultural Centre Interart.

To encourage long-term, coordinated, and transnational support for contemporary dance, a panel session entitled “Moving Balkans: Contemporary Dance as a Shared Cultural Space” was organized, bringing together policymakers, cultural professionals, and representatives of public and international cultural institutions. The discussion highlighted insights into the contemporary dance scene and emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral and regional cooperation in fostering sustainable artistic production, international circulation, and the professional development of artists and cultural workers.

The Creative Europe Desks of the Republic of North Macedonia and Serbia participated in the event, including the panel session.
