Call for residency organisers under the action “Culture Moves Europe”

A new call for residency organisers has been launched under the action “Culture Moves Europe”.

The call for residency organisers provides financial support to legal entities wishing to host artists and cultural professionals within a residency project implemented in two consecutive phases:

Phase 1

Submission of an application describing the residency project, together with the required supporting documents for the legal entity.

Phase 2

If the application is selected in Phase 1, applicants proceed with the selection of the artists and cultural professionals who will take part in the residency and then complete the second and final part of the application.

Who can apply?

Legal entities may apply if they:

  • are registered and based in one of the Creative Europe countries, including overseas countries and territories and the outermost regions;
  • have the capacity to implement the proposed residency project with artists and cultural professionals from other Creative Europe countries;
  • regardless of whether they are newly established or well established, are active in one of the eligible sectors: architecture, cultural heritage, design and fashion design, literature, music, performing arts, and visual arts.

 

What does the residency grant offer?

The residency grant provides financial support to both the host organization and each resident.

For the host organization

  • €50 per day, per resident.
  • Accessibility support (if applicable):
    a fixed amount of €375, €675 or €1,200, depending on the duration of the residency, to cover additional costs related to the resident’s accessibility needs.

For each resident

  • Daily allowance: €30 per day, per resident.
  • Travel allowance:
  • €400 for travel distances under 5,000 km;
  • €800 for travel distances of 5,000 km or more.

Travel distance is calculated automatically in the application form, based on a one-way straight-line distance.

  • Top-ups
  • Green mobility top-up: €400
  • Overseas countries and territories / outermost regions top-up: €175
  • Family top-up: €200 per child
  • Visa top-up: €120

 

Accessibility support

  • A fixed amount of €375, €675 or €1,200, depending on the duration of the   project;
  • Financial support for personal assistance or sign language interpretation;
  • The possibility to request air travel for distances below 600 km.

 

What is required to apply?

  • A concept for a residency project involving 1 to 5 residents, which should address at least two of the following objectives: learning, creating, exploring, connecting, or transforming;
  • The capacity to implement the residency project and to provide adequate accommodation and workspaces;
  • At least one mentor to provide artistic guidance and support to the residents.

 

Supporting documents

  • Proof of the applicant’s legal entity status;
  • The applicant’s artistic portfolio or promotional report;
  • Short Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the mentors.

If the application is selected and proceeds to Phase 2, applicants must submit a residency information card with details for each selected resident, including: official national identification, a short Curriculum Vitae (CV), an artistic and creative portfolio, and proof of legal residence.

 

How to apply?

1. Create an account

Create an account on the Goethe-Application Portal (GAP).
Register as “Organisation/Enterprise”, then select “Culture Moves Europe funding” and subsequently “call for residency hosts”.

2. Complete the application form

The application form must be completed in English. Fluency in English is not required; the use of online translation tools is allowed, and language skills are not evaluated.

3. Finalise and submit

The application can be edited and saved as a draft until submission. All applicants are advised to carefully read the call document before submitting their application.

When to apply?

The call is open from 15 December 2025 to 16 March 2026.

Applications will be reviewed after the deadline, and all applicants will receive their results via the Goethe-Application Portal by 5 May 2026 at the latest.

If successful, hosts will proceed to Phase 2, where they select the residents and submit the residency information card. This can be done at any time between 5 May and 30 September 2026.

The earliest possible start date for a residency project is 8 June 2026.
