This single integrated programme will provide spaces where citizens can meet, create and exchange, freely express their opinions and become more aware and appreciative of diversity.
AgoraEU will cover policy areas that are key to empowering European citizens and building stronger and more resilient societies.
Objective
It aims to:
- promote cultural and linguistic diversity and heritage
- increase the competitiveness of the cultural and creative sectors, in particular the MEDIA and audiovisual industries
- safeguard artistic and media freedom
- protect and promote equality, active citizenship, rights and values
Three strands
Its structure reflects the three policy areas it covers, with three distinctive corresponding strands:
- Creative Europe – Culture
- MEDIA+
- Democracy, Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values’ (CERV+)
A wider Creative Europe – Culture strand
The Creative Europe – Culture strand will build on the success of the current Creative Europe CULTURE strand - Culture and Creativity, while widening its offer of opportunities, accompanying the ambitions of the upcoming Culture Compass for Europe.
It will:
- help cultural and creative sectors in addressing key and emerging challenges
- reinforce creative potential of the sectors, in respect of artistic freedom
- foster circulation of a diversity of cultural content beyond national borders
- help more artists and creative professionals expanding their careers
- contribute to a more inclusive access to a diversity of cultural expression and heritage
- reinforce international cultural partnerships and exchanges
- promote cultural policy development and data collection
Background
The AgoraEU programme is one of the proposals made by the European Commission for the EU budget 2028-2034, also known as Multiannual Financial Framework ("MFF").
